Cameron McCormick was born and raised in Pascagoula, Mississippi. After graduating from Pascagoula High School, he earned his B.B.A. from Mississippi College. From there, he enrolled in Mississippi College School of Law to pursue his passion for the law to become a trial attorney. Cameron graduated in the top 20% of his law school class with the honors of cum laude. Cameron received an award for earning the highest grade in the entire class in trial practice and evidence. In law school, his professors marked him as one of the top performing students by making him the recipient of the American Board of Trial Advocates Scholarship.
During law school, Cameron also excelled in extracurricular activities outside the classroom. Embracing Mississippi College School of Law’s nationally recognized advocacy program, he honed his skills by competing in intra-school and inter-school advocacy competitions in all three years. His focus on advocacy earned him champion in a regional American Bar Association Arbitration Competition and runner-up at the National Competition. Cameron maintained his focus on criminal law by writing his law school exit paper on the 4th Amendment Search and Seizure. This research gives him a definitive edge on the Mississippi evidentiary issues likely to arise in criminal courts.
In addition to academic and extracurricular activities, Cameron has a range of practical experience as well. During law school, while attending classes during the semester, Cameron served as a law clerk for the firm of McKay Lawler Franklin & Foreman PLLC, where he gained valuable experience in civil defense. During his summers, he spent his time at the office of the District Attorney for the 19th Judicial District, where he was sworn in for limited practice to assist in trying numerous criminal cases to a jury. Cameron has assisted with numerous felony cases, including felony leaving the scene of the accident, driving under the influence, aggravated assaults, drug-related charges, and homicides. This experience gave Cameron the experience he needed to be able to know the government’s approach and strategies to criminal cases.
Since opening his own law firm in 2018, Cameron has developed wealth of experience in trying various cases. He has a diverse background in handling both civil and criminal cases, with a growing focus on criminal law. His expertise spans the entire spectrum of criminal cases, including violent crimes, drug offenses, and property crimes. Notably, he has successfully litigated capital murder cases, aggravated assaults, and armed robberies before juries. This extensive experience showcases his specialization and proficiency in the field of criminal law.
